Can we talk copyright??
Sure! You've come to the right place. :)
You suit a german accent 😊
Ha! German Heritage has something to do with it for sure. :)
I’m a high school and I’m trying to get into artcenter. I’m sending in my application in about two months so I’m very excited! This video was super inspiring, thank you for making a more personal tour like this. If somehow I get lucky and get accepted, I’ll definitely check out the spot you showed at the end of the tour :)
Awesome! Best of luck to you! :)
Can AI will impact on this field.
Kind of- but there isn't a field on this planet that won't be affected by AI. The trick with any new technology is beat it, or join it. For Illustration, It won't mean abandoning drawing and painting all together, but perhaps using it in ways that spark your designs to make them even more interesting. :)
@@mattbusch Thanks for your reply, there are some AI tools which converts text to image or video directly & day by day its improving. so my question is what will be the impact of those things on Illustration field? Give me honest reply. And share your thoughts on future of this field, is it growing or shrinking? Already their are few people in this field.
@@SumitMedical-s1d That was my honest reply. And for me, my illustration business has gone up in revenue, so have I seen the impact of it? No, not yet. I'm guessing others have, but I don't focus on that, I focus on what I can do to evolve and adapt. Will all of this change the industry? My guess is it will, but the smart artists will find ways to adapt and make it work in their favor. :)
So close, yet so far away (I'm in Poland).
Awww- well- you're closer than I am! I love the hot pink TK Helmet! :) \m/
Lens distortion corrected on a computer
@@AnthonyGeorge-w2t you can do that to correct your artwork?
@@mattbusch think of it as a grid plane converted to either a concave or convex image.
@@mattbusch a grid plane can be reconfigured. Vertically. Horizontally. Oblong. Circle. Etc. Etc a black hole (whirlpool pattern)....
@@AnthonyGeorge-w2t Yes- and that is super cool- it’s actually creating what would really happen with those lenses. BUT- the point of foreshortening is often taking artistic license and *choosing* which areas to exaggerate, and which not to. It’s not mathematically accurate, but that’s the point. You may have a shot that technically would be a wide angle lens from far away, but you would often still want to foreshorten some areas, even though it wouldn’t be that way with a camera.
Awesome
Thank you! 🙌
U are a F N rockstar man! Your level of self promotion is unreal and so damn inspiring!
Ha! I'm glad you see it that way! THANK YOU, Rob! Miss you, brutha!
That is amazing i need it
Thank you so much! Sold a couple weeks ago at a Star Wars Art Show in Germany. :)
30th anniversary and you don't look a day over 29 😊
@@originalArchie Too kind! Thank you! 🙏
Way Cool! That was some impressive lightsaber choreography too!
@@TheEnforcer_OS Right?!

A new movie
Yes! Still a year or 2 away...
So stoked to have found you on RUclips! I love your work and even own one of your books! Very excited to see more content!
Awesome! Thanks for following! \m/
somehow my video is untitled, but I hope you dig it anyway. Who’s ready for the Mando and Grogu movie?
i def don’t like the current title for it but i see some potential in it. the first 2 seasons were great but season 3 kinda flopped ngl
@@jacobs7593 Yeah, now that I think about it, the title isn't great. I also didn't care for "The Mandalorian" as a title, but then the show was so good when it came out, I kind of just forgot about how I didn't like the title. I also agree- Season 1 and 2 were great, but then it was just like a who's who cameo fest of famous people, taking us completely out of the Star Wars world. ANd then Jack Black starts singing??! I love Jack Black, but I definitely don't wanna see him doing his outrageousness in Star Wars!
genius!!!!
@@deadsherry Absolutely!
I bought the album BLAM! way back in 1978. The cover art is for the funk band The Brothers Johnson's 1978 album of the same name. I was a "funk-a- teer" back then (still am it age 65) and they were my favorite band. The is image from a well known back then publicity photo which explains some what it being Drew's first paid assignment. The music for the most part is disappointing but I remember being blown away by the image which more than made up for it. I'd love to hear what he thought of the record which contained a monster dance hit.
So cool! I had no idea when this was recorded, but there have been a few BLAM! fans that have let me know. The art is SO COOL!!!!
@@mattbusch Thanks. The hit song was titled "Ain't We Funk'n Now!"
WOW that is awesome!
Thank you!! \m/
challenge accepted >:D
Yes! Woo hoo! :)
I have a complete documentary and I plan on attending AFM in Vegas this year. Can you make a video clarifying the process for filmmakers to set up meetings with potential distributors and also, how to avoid predatory companies?
That's great! Vegas should be really cool! I won't be able to make such a video between now and then, BUT- I can tell you real quick and easy. Once you are registered, there are 2 places to keep checking out and following up on that you'll have access to: One is the Film Catalogue website, which is updated weekly from now until the show. Each week you'll see a list of new studios and distributors. You'll see some of the films they have already distributed (which helps see if the genres and quality is similar to what you have) as well as a list of the people at that company who will be there. In some cases, contact info for those people is listed. As well, you'll get access to a year subscription of Cinando. This has even more info for each company, the films they have produced / distributed, and contact info for people that might not have it listed in The Film Catalogue. So you can cross reference each time to make sure you have all the info. Ideally, the sooner you can set up meetings, the better. Once you're a couple weeks away from the show, it's already too late. Some have said that if they politely try to set up meetings in person at the show, sometimes they will have an open slot where someone cancelled, but I imagine those are few and far between. Try to get everything scheduled in advance. :) Good luck! \m/
You could do this to your art room 😊
@@originalArchie Ha! I wish I had that much space! 🙌
Thanks again for sharing your experience and knowledge.Off the topic,l have become.interested in the poster artist Reynold Brown and William F. Rose do you have any insights on how they worked.Thanks.again.
@@user-by1xy4tr4j Great artists! I wish I did. I should look into it more…
Huge fan of your work mate - You and Mr Struzan are the dudes! I'm doing a Empire Strikes back themed "Style D/Circus illustration but in Airbrushed Gouache with some pencil and felt tips - What would you recommend to use as a sealer as i'm very worried about ruining it by using the wrong type? Cheers!
@@neonvandal8770 Thank you so much! Gosh- haven’t used guoche in a long time. I absolutely loved the colors, but found that even with sealers the colors would change over time. Acrylics aren’t as easy to work with, but at least they are bulletproof and easy to make changes with, so I had to make the switch.
🔥🔥

I didnt know what I was in for being an artist, but it was worth it, u may as well get your art badge, i recommend it too.

Just coming across the video. I'm with SISU Cinema Robotics, and I'm glad you got a chance to look how LED screens, unreal environments, and motion control can make for some very cool content. Plus Dan Chapman, the guy operating that robot, is just an awesome dude. :).
@@jeremyallen8580 Just wild how good the technology is! 🙌
Great advice and this is something that has cemented me to go to school for. Because I have heard people say "hey, don't waste money going to school. You can learn this for free." Tried it. It's not structured as I like and some people I've watched on RUclips can get confusing fast on how they speak.
If one wants a well rounded education, it needs to be curated by professional educators. Otherwise, it's an amateur just picking and choosing what books to read and videos to watch.
Great advise and I totally agree! Especially about the classes you think you don't need... Funfact: I won your painting you did for the 501st t-shirt you did! You had a trivia contest and I was on it!!! Thank you for all you do!
No way! That is fantastic- it pays off to be a trivia master! LOL... Yeah- so many classes I thought were useless that later I wish I had paid better attention in! :)
@@mattbusch never underestimate the power of composition!!! lol!
@@darthmoocher8077 Totally!!!
Great advice - Whatever artform you create in - your name travels and you dont know who will see or hear your work down the line. Your attitude will open OR close doors for you.
That's exactly it! You hear that advice a lot, but until you experience how much it can help or damage you, one often doesn't realize how important it is. :) \m/
Wow! So Cool! Really neat to see collector's show love for picking up the originals!
Yeah, it's a much better market for that in Europe! :)
man your work ethic, skills and drive are truly inspiring! when you mentioned it was 30 yrs ago you did some pieces it brought me back in time and imagined you painting the stuff just out of love for the Lore of Star Wars and being a fan, and then FFW decades later you works invaluable and showcased in international galleries and acquired by the companies too. Just amazing. It goes to show that as long as you put your heart into it, success will come. Thanks for inspiring me and for being a good online friend by answering my many troubled questions regarding filmmaking man, one day I'll buy something from you! (when I sell my film and get myself out of the gutters ha!)
Thanks so much! Dude, stay strong- things will bounce back for you! :) \m/
